About Heliograf
Heliograf is an award-winning collaboration between Angus Ware and Jeffrey Simpson, based in Sydney, Australia.
We live on the coast and have seen first-hand the shocking impact plastic is having on our oceans, marine life and people.
Our lamp, Light Soy, is a statement on the iconic plastic soy fish. They are emblematic of the big problem with small single-use plastics: lethal to marine life and birds, and potentially contributing microplastics to our food. Sadly ironic given their shape.
We set out to highlight single-use plastic and make a difference.
After years of design and development the result is Light Soy – a charming lamp made with recycled ocean-bound plastic that directly funds plastic cleanups.
Since inception, we've funded the removal of over 34 tons of plastic from the environment, in the places most affected by ocean plastic pollution.
But it's just the start... we're doing everything we can to stop plastic pollution at the 'sauce'.
Award-winning design
We've been featured in The New Yorker, Dezeen, Architectural Digest, Apartment Therapy, The Australian Financial Review & more, and won a Gold Good Design Award.
Our Mission: Design for Good
Design
We design our products with
environmental footprint, resources, reuse and recycling at heart,
inspired by the circular economy model.
Materials
Our products are made with sustainable materials like recycled ocean-bound plastic, or fully compostable materials.
Funding Action
As well as using recycled materials in our products, we fund an extra cleanup of 2kg of plastic for each lamp sold.
Packaging
We use plastic-free, compostable materials for all our packaging and design for minimal waste whenever possible.
Our Impact
Since we launched Light Soy, we've been responsible for the cleanup of over 34 tonnes of plastic, equal to 34 million soy fish packets.
Ocean-Bound Plastic
Our products use certified recycled ocean-bound plastic, a material that prevents ocean pollution and funds better waste management where it has the most impact.
Cleanups
We've partnered with Seven Clean Seas to clean up the areas most affected by plastic pollution, and prevent ocean plastic.
